Poland v Austria: Pessina and Tonali strike as Italy progress

Italy beat Austria 2-1 to set up a quarter-final against Belgium

Matteo Pessina and Sandro Tonali scored in either half to secure victory for Italy, who will face Belgium in the quarter-finals.

Italy started the match brightly and took the lead in the 19th minute when Pessina fired home from close range after a cross from Federico Chiesa. Austria equalised in the 65th minute through Sasa Kalajdzic, but Tonali restored Italy's lead just four minutes later with a fine strike from outside the area.

Austria pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages but Italy held on to secure their place in the last eight. The Azzurri will now face Belgium in the quarter-finals on Friday.
