Patria to Lead Development of Common Armoured Vehicle System for CAVS Programme
Finland-Based Company Selected as Prime Contractor
Agreement Includes Germany as Fifth Participating Nation
Helsinki, Finland - Patria, a Finnish defense and aerospace company, has been selected as the prime contractor to lead the development of the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) under the international CAVS programme.
CAVS, originally established by Finland and Latvia, is a joint initiative of multiple governments to develop and procure a standardized family of armored vehicles for troop transport and other roles.
Patria's 6x6 vehicle is designed specifically for troop transport roles, but it can also be configured for other missions. The agreement involves the CAVS participating nations of Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany.
Germany has become the fifth country to join the first stage of the multinational cooperation. Latvia previously signed a contract with Patria in August 2021 for over 200 CAVS vehicles, including support and training.
