A Brief Biography
Piers Raymond Courage was born on May 27, 1942, in Essex, England. He began his racing career in 1964, competing in Formula Three and Formula Two before moving up to Formula One in 1967.

Tragic Loss
On June 21, 1970, Courage was killed in a tragic accident during the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. His de Tomaso crashed into a bank after sliding wide, and he was unable to escape before the car burst into flames.
