DIY Tundra Transmission Fluid Change
Video Demonstration
In this video, John Lombardo of IPT Performance Trans shows how to fill and check the transmission fluid in a Toyota Tundra.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Start Your Car's Engine and Lift the Hood
When checking the gearbox fluid, the car needs to be warm.
2. Locate the Fill Plug
The fill plug is located on the right side of the transmission and looks like the fill plug on a manual transmission.
3. Remove the Fill Plug
Use a 24mm wrench to remove the fill plug.
4. Check the Fluid Level
Use a dipstick to check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
5. Add Fluid If Necessary
If the fluid level is low, add fluid through the fill hole using a funnel.
6. Reinstall the Fill Plug
Once the fluid level is correct, reinstall the fill plug and tighten it with a wrench.
